Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Moorhead's Police Chief is headed to Saint Paul to tackle school safety concerns.

Chief David Ebinger says there needs to be a 360 degree approach to preventing classroom crime. He says resource officers and counselors can connect with students to learn about in-school issues.

To prevent gun violence from entering schools, Ebinger says we'll need to improve the design of new facilities, and update old ones.

Chief David Ebinger, Moorhead Police: "Change locks, change doors, change layout of the school. Some things that are very basic that they need to require funding to do."

Minnesota Sheriffs and Police Chiefs spend one day each session discussing enforcement concerns with lawmakers.
