(WDAY TV) -- Looking back at the Vikings quarterback situation over the last decade, fans have learned to expect the unexpected.

But, if it's up to head coach Leslie Frazier, the only thing you should expect now is to see Christian Ponder under center all next season. Frazier says Ponder won't have to compete for the starting job.

While, fans have been frustrated by the ineffective deep passing game. Ponder proved he can win, he led the Vikings to their first playoff appearance, since 2009.

Frazier, Vikings Head Coach, says, "For us, that improvement at the quarterback position we are hoping will come this offseason. We really like the progress that Christian has made for us. We expect in his third season that he's going to make another jump. And part of that will be what happens this off-season. So, we're not at a point where we're looking for a quarterback to come in and move Christian at all. As long as Christian keeps improving, we feel like we have what we need to bring a championship to Minnesota."

Backup quarterback is a different story, Frazier has said there will be competition for that spot, whether that involves current backup Joe Webb, we'll find out this summer.
