BISMARCK -- The North Dakota Student Association, representing just over 48,000 public university students, have no confidence in University System Chancellor Hamid Shirvani, and support a proposal to buy out the remainder of his contract.
NDSA met Friday night and Saturday during a regular meeting at Bismarck State College, where a majority of the eleven public university student government's supported an NDSA vote of no confidence resolution aimed at Shirvani. Another resolution was upheld in support of Fargo Republican Sen. Tony Grindberg's amendment to add a little over $800,000 from the state's general fund to Gov. Jack Dalrymple's proposed university system budget to allow the State Board of Higher Education to buy out Shirvani's contract.
