Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Neighbors living next to Fargo's Gladys Ray Shelter say safety is such an issue, they don't let their kids play outside.

Some believe similar issues could happen at the new "project home" house.

The Gladys Ray to homeless people, especially those who have been drinking, opened back in 2008. Ever since, people living nearby say they've seen countless problems from fights to break-ins. Some residents even started a petition to close it down, others have been trying to move, but are having a hard time selling their homes.

Jon Kauffman says, "I know there's a lot of people that just get out of jail and they end up over there and so it's rather dangerous to have children outside."

The executive director of Gladys Ray was not available for an on camera interview, but is open to talking with anyone living nearby who may have concerns.
