Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - As our congressional representatives prepare to head back to Washington, they are bringing with them concerns over rising gas prices.

Meeting with several farm group leaders, Senators Hoeven and Heitkamp, along with Representative Kevin Cramer talked about efforts to pass a new farm bill.

The lawmakers also told us more needs to be done to address the dramatic increases at the pumps. Despite being an oil producing state, North Dakota is not sheltered from the rising prices.

Rep. Kevin Cramer, (R) North Dakota: “Right now it is estimated we have $120 trillion worth of oil and gas on federal lands and we could erase the debt the deficit and get our economy going again and lower gas by creating supply in the supply demand curve.”

Senator Hoeven said as a country, we can produce more energy than we consume, just like North Dakota.
