North Dakota man killed in snowmobile crash identified

McVILLE, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a man who died in a snowmobile crash over the weekend.

McVILLE, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a man who died in a snowmobile crash over the weekend.

Lt. Aaron Hummel said Tuesday that 59-year-old Michael Duane Barney of Michigan, N.D., was killed while traveling west on Horseshoe Lake. Barney's snowmobile hit a slight grade and went airborne adjacent to Nelson County Road 35.

Police say Barney cleared the road, lost control of the snowmobile and rolled on the west side of Horshoe Lake. The accident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Barney was taken to Nelson County Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
