Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The NDSU men's basketball team has just three games left in it's regular season and they're hoping they'll get standout forward Taylor Braun back perhaps as early as next week.

Braun has been out since mid-January when he broke a bone in his foot when

he landed awkwardly on a camera operator's foot.

NDSU has played nine games without it's leading scorer and put up a 5-4 record and will boost a team that needs a scoring punch down the stretch.

NDSU Head Coach, Saul Phillips, says, "He'll be welcomed back with open arms. It will be a sprint to get him back and hopefully comfortable as soon as possible. I'd like to play him against Utah Valley. I don't know if I'm going to be allowed to, almost certainly versus Omaha. We look at that X-ray and it isn't right. That is unlikely. From everything I've been told we're going into this with the expectation that he's going to be cleared and everything is going to be good."

NDSU will return to national TV later this week; when they face Akron Friday

night on ESPN 2, the Zips have the nation's longest winning streak at 17 games.
