Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Hundreds of people in Grand Forks bundled up, braved the cold, and went for a jog this morning to help out the Special Olympics.

The Red River Runners sponsored the sixth annual Frozen Feat. The event included a 5K run or walk and a 10k run. It takes dozens of volunteers and about six months of planning to pull this off, but organizers say it's well worth it.

Event organizer, Stacy Kusler, says, "It's so fun to see all the people that come out and run a race in the middle of February when people would think it's just the worst time to run, but honestly it's so refreshing. And it's so nice to have an event to do in the middle of February when things just seem kind of glum."

Each year runners raise about 3 thousand dollars.
