Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A newsletter from Fargo Public Schools is warning parents to pay attention to the types of apps on their kids' phones.
School Resource Officer Kimberly Claus says a few of these sexting apps came to her attention in dealings with students.
One is called Snapchat. It allows the user to send photos that disappear after a short time, but they can still come back to haunt the sender if someone simply grabs a screenshot of the image.
Kimberly Claus – School Resource Officer: "If you're seeing applications, or apps, on these phones or iPods that you don't recognize, you can easily to a Google search - that's what I did - that gives you the information, the description, what they're used for."
Another app called KIK allows the user to send voice, text, and video recordings without using the e-mail or text on their phones. Some use this app to hide information they are sending from parents.
