Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If you're a parent, you've likely been there! Scrambling to find a babysitter, maybe even for your Valentine's Day date tonight.
Or maybe you need someone to watch your dogs or house while your away or even want to get rid of that extra concert ticket.
Thanks to some local developers, there's now a first of its kind app for all of that.
It all started with a simple idea brought here to the brains at Myriad Devices in North Fargo. Parents complaining they had to miss something because they couldn't find someone to watch the kids - and someone else saying - you should've called me - I was free.
That's where the local Myriad app developers came in.
Peter Granlund: "We can view our pending invites."
Their solution to the problem? Sitterbook! A new Facebook app that connects parents with potential babysitters and so much more - in just seconds.
James Dravitz/Myriad Devices: "People can use it for babysitting, it could be dog-sitting, someone let my dog out, can you lock my house, water my plants, you can do it basically for any scheduling."
If you have an extra concert ticket you're looking to get rid of, need to get the kids to basketball or need a ride to the cities this weekend - Sitterbook can help with that too.
Peter Granlund: "This is where you see all the different requests."
It works pretty simply. You download the app and then actually invite the Facebook friends you want to connect with on the app. They're not strangers. You know exactly who you're inviting into your home to watch your kids or pets.
James Dravitz/Myriad Devices: "They accept it and then you can post requests or fill requests from a simple feed."
Peter Granlund: I'll look after your dogs.
Babysitters can also post their availability on the feed - making it even easier for parents..
Peter Granlund/Myriad Devices: "Everybody has Facebook so even if they don't use apps for it, it allows us to tap into this excellent platform, this messaging platform, we're just tapping into that, all their connections and everything like that. It's like having email, chat and all of that all together and then some."
One that connects you with your Facebook friends in a whole new way and could keep you from ever having to cancel plans again.
Peter Granlund/Myriad Devices: "In the long run, we really think that this is going to save people a lot of time and that this is going to be a successful app."
You can download the free app by searching for Sitterbook in your Facebook search bar.
