A bill is approved to raise speeding fines

Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) -- The North Dakota House has approved a bill to raise speeding fines.

Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) -- The North Dakota House has approved a bill to raise speeding fines.

The bill targets drivers speeding in 65 mile per hour or less zones and in cities. Speeding could cost two dollars for every mile over the limit.

The bill also doubles the fine for speeding in a school zone to 80 dollars.

Fines have not been adjusted in about 30 years. The bill now moves to the Senate.
