MOORHEAD – Police here arrested a Fargo man in connection with a stabbing Wednesday night outside a Moorhead apartment building.
Officers responded at 11:08 p.m. to a stabbing reported at 2414 3rd Ave. N. and found the victim outside with a stab wound to his left side, Lt. Mike Detloff said.
The victim, Mahad Hashi, 21, of Fargo, was conscious and alert at the scene. Police interviewed him there and again after he was taken by F-M Ambulance to Sanford Medical Center, Detloff said.
The stabbing happened when Hashi went to the apartment’s front door, upset that someone kept ringing the buzzer to the apartment he was visiting, Detloff said. The suspect, who apparently had been looking for someone else in the apartment, began fighting with Hashi and allegedly stabbed him, Detloff said.
Interviews with witnesses and evidence collected at the scene led police to identify 37-year-old Odus Quincy Maxwell of Fargo as the suspect, Detloff said. Officers located Maxwell at an apartment in the 500 block of 32nd Avenue South in Moorhead and arrested him without incident on suspicion second-degree felony assault.
Maxwell is being held in the Clay County Jail.
Police did not find the weapon used in the stabbing, Detloff said.
