Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Although an adult entertainment ordinance has passed in Moorhead, it may be years before Fargo and West Fargo see one of their own.
Fargo and West Fargo police chiefs have been working to create a similar city ordinance, requiring adult entertainers to pay a fine and register with police. In North Dakota, a state statute is in their way prohibiting law enforcement from regulating obscene materials.
Without amending North Dakota's statute through the legislature, the ordinances Fargo and West Fargo leaders hoped for would not hold ground.
Keith Ternes – Fargo Police Chief: “We're kind of stuck in a waiting period until they get back together in two years, at which time we'll certainly look for amending the statute so that we can in fact incorporate something here locally to deal with some of that unlawful adult entertainment.”
Ternes says they will continue monitoring and conducting stings.. until the legislature meets again in 2015.
