Devils Lake, ND (WDAY TV) -- An elderly Devils Lake man is out 50-thousand dollars in a sweepstakes scam.
Police say the man is in his 80s, he made several payments the last few months to the phony company. He was told he won a 48 and a half million dollar pot, but to collect he needed to pay fees.
Police say it's a common scam. The scammers used a legitimate company name in this case, "U.S. Sweepstakes," but had money sent to a different address.
