Omaha, NE (WDAY TV) -- UND hockey fans had this date circled on the calendar for months, the outdoor battle in Omaha.
The game was supposed to start at 4, but that didn't happen because the sun beaming on the ice made for sloppy conditions. So the puck drop has been moved to 6:35.
Here's what the ice looked like earlier today at TD Ameritrade park, after the USHL game between Lincoln and Omaha. The crew working on the rink says they were prepared for the temperatures but the sun created problems.
Harold Cliff with the Omaha Sports Commission says, "We were really surprised that the sun had that much of an effect with the lower tempeture, cause I don't think we reached the maximum tempeture today that they where forecasting. So at 20 degrees we thought it would be fine, but you always want to air on the side of caution with the safety of skaters and that's why they were given the opportunity to make that decision."
