Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- The Minnesota Department of Education is asking for more time before it bans a controversial practice in schools.
It wants to continue using prone restraint, a practice used to calm agitated students, until 2017.
Current state law bans it this August. The move is like a wrestling hold, where someone grabs a student's hands and feet, holding them face-down on the floor. It's often used on children with severe mental health disabilities.
Advocates for those children say the move puts students in danger.
