MINNEAPOLIS — The executive director of Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party is charged with driving while intoxicated after he hit two parked cars in Minneapolis in December.

Corey Day faces two gross misdemeanor counts of DWI, according to a criminal complaint.

Day was arrested Dec. 15 in south Minneapolis. He told police someone jumped out at him, causing him to strike the parked cars.

Day also told police he had a few glasses of wine at a holiday party. The Star Tribune reports a test found he had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.19 percent, more than twice Minnesota's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Police say Day previously pled guilty to a drunken driving charge in 2009.

Day did not immediately return a phone call or email to his office Friday night.
