(WDAY TV) -- An update on a story we brought you last night.

A judge has ruled officials in central North Dakota can adopt out, sell or dispose of 157 horses that were seized from a man because of neglect.

The horses were seized after authorities found 99 dead horses on Bill Kiefer's property in Burleigh and Morton counties. The counties petitioned the court to place the animals permanently in the custody of the two sheriff's departments.

The judge today, ruled the departments had probable cause to seize the horses. Kiefer has not been criminally charged.
