Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An advocacy group says North Dakota is missing out on tax revenue that's being swept under the rug through offshore tax dodging.

North Dakota Fair Share says the state missed out on $58 million in taxes last year.

The group says nationwide, loopholes allowed $41 billion to be hidden away in tax havens. And in 2011, nearly 300 Fortune 500 companies admitted to stashing over $1.6 trillion.

Niles Eastman, North Dakota State Fair Share: "It is an insult to North Dakotan tax payers that the largest corporations are not paying their fair share. We are calling on Representative Cramer to demand an end to corporate tax free loading."

North Dakota Fair Share is rallying local citizens to push congress to close corporate tax loopholes.
