Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Some people who live in Moorhead say they've had enough of un-shoveled sidewalks.

City laws say residents are responsible for clearing sidewalks of ice and snow 24 hours after a snowfall.

Just today, the city cited some properties, like the old Car-Port property, Coca-Cola, and Valley Windows, all on First Avenue North.

If property owners break the rules, the city gives them a notice and two days to clear the walks. If you don't comply, it sends crews to do it for you and it's not cheap. Clean-up costs more than $100.

Lisa Vatnsdal, Moorhead Neighborhood Services Manager: “There is a lot of pedestrians even in the winter time. There's children going to the school bus, there's mail carriers trying to get their routes out."

City staff says if you're on vacation, or have mobility problems, ask for help, so you don't get charged.
