Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Chairman of Forum Communications has made a new partnership possible in the Valley. Bill Marcil, Sr has donated thousands of dollars in a collaborative program aiming to strengthen the economy and spur job growth.
Forum Communications Chairman Bill Marcil, Sr. invested $100,000 to help form the Valley Prosperity Partnership, aimed at developing a plan to improve infrastructure and economy across the region.
Bill Marcil, Sr – Forum Communications Chairman: "The cream of the crop here in the Red River Valley are part of this program and they're going to make it work. It's historic."
Marcil's vision is now a collaborative effort by more than 20 private sector leaders, including both businesses and universities like UND and NDSU. They hope to work together to research and recognize economic opportunities in the Fargo-Moorhead area, as well as Grand Forks and Wahpeton.
Tammy Miller – Steering Committee Co-Chair: “For all areas to continue to prosper and grow, Valley communities must come together and create a plan that is both collaborative and strategic."
Bill Marcil Sr: "The global economy is forcing regions to grow together. The economy in North Dakota is changing. It's important I think that we have a statement here in the Valley to show the rest of the state what we can do."
It’s an already leading economy now with the potential to get even better.
Work on creating the partnership's strategic plan is beginning this month, with the goal of completion before September of this year. WDAY is owned by Forum Communications.
