Also fairly for employees making sure departments don't get bogged down as work increases. The City Commission is contracting a firm to come in and review all of the jobs employed by West Fargo. This is a 29-thousand dollar study. It was further examined at tonight's meeting.
From the city manager to police officers to street workers, everyone's job description and daily tasks are being looked at. This could mean more hires, change in a pay scale and/or reorganizing the city's working ladder. It also covers how many future positions will need to be added as the population continues to boom.
Mayor Rich Mattern of West Fargo says, "every budget cycle demands come in for more sanitation workers, more police and more street people. How can we be more efficient? And that ties into job descriptions and what people do."
The study also compares compensation for all city jobs compared to what other cities in the area pay. The study will wrap up this spring. The commission will use it this summer when it begins balancing the budget.
