West Fargo school permit is approved

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Shared boundaries has the city of Fargo approving an early building permit for a new West Fargo elementary school.

The school will be built north of Osgood and east of Veterans boulevard, about a block north of 40th avenue south. While the school is a part of the West Fargo School District, the land is in Fargo's Valley View Addition.

The plan is to break ground on the $11 million new building next spring so it will be ready by the fall of 2014.

Brenda Derrig with the Fargo Engineering Dept. says, "We are in favor of approving this early building permit this will allow them to work in conjunction with us getting the utilities to them and we are also working with their design engineers."

The trigger for the new school came last fall when enrollment at the just opened Freedom elementary went over capacity.
