Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Some words of warning and concern from the national commander of the American Legion.

In Moorhead, James Koutz told supporters that with so many returning soldiers needing support and care, the VA needs to get better at clearing the backlog in veterans requests and cases.

Koutz will spend four days in Minnesota, meeting with Legion members. The Vietnam Veteran plans to lay out his argument for more help from Congress when he meets with President Obama later this month.

Jim Koutz, American Legion National Commander, says, "with all the soldiers coming home and amputees we have thousands coming home back in korea days we would be coming home in a pine box but with research today they are living and we have to take of them."

Koutz heads to Park Rapids tomorrow.
