Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- East Grand Forks city leaders are preparing to dig deep into a controversial topic.
Waste water discussions start tomorrow with a public forum. Officials are planning to head to St. Paul to ask the state for help with this multi-million dollar project.
They're looking at working with Grand Forks on an interconnect project, or complete a renovation of current lagoons. City leaders want to do an intensive study before making a final decision.
Mayor Lynn Strauss of East Grand Forks, says, "We have to form a plan and the start is just letting the public talk and hear what they feel."
Craig Buckale, East Grand Forks Council President, says, "Hopefully we need to remove the emotion out of this thing and we need to make a good business decision that's cost effective for all the taxpayers in the community."
The interconnect project could cost about 9-million, while the renovation comes in at about 13-million.
