Adrian Peterson wins MVP

(WDAY TV) -- We have big matchups for UND on ice and NDSU on the hardwood, but we begin with one of the best stories of the year in sports. One year ago, the 3 letters associated with Vikings runningback Adrian Peterson were ACL, tonight those 3 letters are MVP.

Peterson beat out Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, by 11 votes to win the NFL's most prestigious award.

In a season, where many questioned if Peterson would be ready for the season opener, he put up the 2nd best regular season rushing total in NFL history

and led the Vikings from 3-13 a year ago to a 10-6 mark and a playoff berth.

He's the third Viking to win the MVP, the first since Fran Tarkenton did it back in 1975.
