Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Hundreds of middle school students from Minnesota and North Dakota met in Grand Forks today to compete in the First Lego League robotic program.
There were 38 teams in all. Members worked together to build robots that can perform certain tasks.
The challenge this year was coming up with solutions to problems facing older Americans.
Ashley Miller, organizer, says, "They really have to be able to work together as a team to be a part of this program because some might excel in programming a robot while others might excel at coming up with a solution to the project."
The winner from the competition goes on to compete nationally in St. Louis.
