Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Girls Scouts kicked off their cookie season with a rally this afternoon in Grand Forks.

The annual cookie fundraiser officially starts February ninth and continues through March ninth. Organizers say the goal is to sell 1.3 million cookies in North and South Dakota.

Thin mints are typically the most popular seller.

Girl Scout organizer, Rachel Downs, says, " It teaches younger girls how to interact with the public, how to be ethical. You give them a start date and they can't start before that date. It teaches them money management, it teaches them budgeting.."

Cookie boxes are $4 a piece.
