Breckenridge, MN (WDAY TV) -- 1.7 Million teenagers are currently homeless and one Breckenridge High schooler is trying to make life a little easier for them.
Freshman Hannah Feigum is planning to collect used jeans at her school and church, part of a nation wide jean drive.
For freshman Hannah Feigum, it all began as an idea surrounding some of her favorite clothing.
Hannah: "My grandma heard about it and she told me about it."
An idea to give back to someone like her, but someone who may not have so much.
Hannah: "It's called Do Something, and Aeropostale is putting it on."
Hannah will be collecting gently used jeans at her High School, as well as Breckenridge Lutheran Church beginning next week, it's part of a national jean drive called Teens for Jeans, put on by the Do Something organization.
Ivan Hirst/Breckenridge Principal: "I thought it was a great way for Hannah to get involved with her community and do something bigger than herself."
Hannah: "I had a ton of pairs of jeans, a ton of pairs of pants, laying around my house that I don't wear. Giving them away sounded better."
Everything collected will go to teens living in shelters who aren't fortunate to have that luxury.
Hannah: "People who are homeless, the one thing they want are jeans, their own pair of jeans."
So with help from her classmates and congregation, she hopes to bring in what many of us take for granted..and give it all back.
Hirst: "We want community service and leaders in our community and Hannah will be one of those people."
Hannah: "Even three pair of jeans would be awesome, because that's three more pair of jeans people have."
Hannah and her mom will drop the jeans off at Aeropostale in Fargo, where they will later be distributed to local shelters. If you would like to donate, you take jeans to Breckenridge Lutheran Church.
