Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If you live in Minnesota, beginning this fall, the process of buying personal health insurance is completely changing.
As part of President Obama's affordable care act, a new online market called the Minnesota Health Care Exchange is beginning in October.
Its goal is to provide coverage for thousands of people who don't currently have health insurance using a website where people can search for, compare, and purchase plans.
Anyone can use the site and after picking a plan, subsidies and tax credits will be available for low to middle income people.
Joe Pederson, Lakes and Prairies Coalition: “The current increases in health care costs are not sustainable by anyone, by any company or any individual. Is this the right answer? I don't know but it's an attempt to control the increasing costs of health care.”
Each state needs to have a similar marketplace by October in order to implement the federal health care overhaul.
