Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In most recent years, the F-M area has seen a rise in heroin use.
According to Fargo police, it's because the chemicals in heroin are similar to those in prescription drugs.
Since prescription drugs are harder to obtain these days, users are turning to the more affordable choice of heroin. But police say they are staying on top of it.
Lt. Joel Vettel, Fargo Police Dept.: "We've had some relatively major busts that allow us to really take down a lot of the dealers who were in our community for that particular drug and that has certainly caused a reduction in the numbers and keep them relatively low."
Compared to other regions, the Fargo-Moorhead area has very little heroin use but police say it is still a problem.
