Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in the Fargo-Moorhead area and NDSU Pharmacy students are trying to combat that trend through education.

Two students shattered myths about prescription drug abuse at Oak Grove Lutheran School today. They say the best way to stop the growing trend is to keep pills locked away.

Fifteen percent of North Dakota students between 12 and 17 admit to using prescription drugs.

Tenzin Jangchup, NDSU Pharmacy Student: "Kids like to think that it's easier to obtain, it's less addictive, things like that. And that's not the case. When prescription drugs are misused, it's highly addictive.”

Oak Grove's SADD chapter invited the speakers as part of National Drug Facts Week.
