Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo-Moorhead Fencing Club is getting a big boost nationally.

Epee Head Coach Enrique Alvarez was selected early this week as the United States head coach for the Pan American Game next week in Puerto Rico.

Alvarez will be in charge of 30-40 of the nation's best fencers in the juniors and cadets divisions. This is a chance to get Fargo recognized in the Fencing world since starting the club just a couple years ago.

Enrique Alverez, U.S. Pan-Am Fencing Coach: “This is something I’ve always wanted to do. I have the level of my degree for coaching to be there so I gave it a shot and got it.”

The Pan Am Games run from February 6-11.
