Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It was a full house for the launch of the speaker series at NDSU's Main Library.
Students and faculty members listened to Laurie Baker, the executive director of the F-M Coalition for Homeless Persons. She talked about homelessness in the metro, which includes a lot of students and young people.
Baker told the students that people who are homeless aren't that different from them.
Laurie Baker – FM Coalition for Homeless Persons: “Mostly I just want them to take away the notion that a lot of what we believe about homelessness is stereotype and myth. And the reality is somewhat different. The reality is that the homeless individual is you or I with just a couple of different rolls of the dice.”
The next speaker series in February will focus on Black History Monthly.
