Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) – Two men are in custody and authorities are investigating a string of robberies that took place Tuesday afternoon in both Fargo and Moorhead. Police say there have been 5 robberies just minutes apart in the metro.
Two suspects are in custody in the Clay County Jail pending appropriate charges when investigations complete. Moorhead Police were alerted to a reported robbery that occurred in Fargo. Shortly after that at around 4 PM a second robbery occurred at a south Moorhead Stop-N-Go on 30th Avenue South. As officers were responding to this incident an alarm was reported at Orton’s, a convenience store located at 725 30th Avenue South in Moorhead. Minutes later Casey’s General Store reported a robbery. A fifth robbery was reported at Holiday Gas Station 15 minutes later.
Witnesses gave consistent information that a black male suspect would allegedly attempt to purchase an item, but would then reach in the till and steal money prior to running out. No weapons were displayed.
Multiple law enforcement agencies working together, including the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota and North Dakota State Patrols, Dilworth Police Department and numerous area investigators worked together to locate the suspect vehicle and two occupants at 9th Avenue and 19th Street South in Moorhead. Both males were taken into custody; investigations are on-going.
Cash believed to be from the thefts was recovered from the vehicle. The suspects will be identified and charge provided at a later time.
