(WDAY TV) -- Last March, Tucker Hibbert was the big name at the snocross event held at Buffalo River Race Park.

Today, Hibbert, who calls Pelican Rapids home, showed why he is the king of snocross. Becoming the first person to 6-peat in a Winter X-games event. It was his 11th medal overall, and his 7th gold. Hibbert had a shaky start to the 16-lap final, but midway thru the first lap he took the lead and never looked back.

He ends up winning by 11 seconds. Hibbert lacerated his kidney in a snowmobile accident back in March, that put his career in jeopardy. So, this victory is a little sweeter.

Hibbert says, " It took a lot of hard work man. I tell ya. Monster, arctic cat, ram truck team has been putting in so many hours at the test track. And I have to thank God for giving me this opportunity and keeping me safe out there. The track was gnarly. We worked super hard man, we earned this."
