One of the North Dakota's best swimmers is leaving the sport

(WDAY TV) -- Dagny Knutson may be the best swimmer the state of North Dakota has ever seen, the 16-time state champion was once an olympic hopeful. But, the 21-year old Minot native is walking away from the sport.
An article published today in the New York times says Knutson made the decision to leave the sport a few weeks ago.
The article says Knutson stopped swimming a year ago, to seek treatment for an eating disorder. She was trying to make a return to swim with team USA this month. But, she and her family can no longer afford the medical bills and her college tuition.
