Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - The possibility of more money from the state has Moorhead School officials cautiously optimistic, after seeing Governor Dayton's budget proposal.

A $52 per student increase is what the governor is suggesting, along with increases in early childhood and special education.

There is also money to help districts move to all-day kindergarten, which may be enough for Moorhead to make the switch.

Lynne Kovash, Moorhead Superintendent: “We've been exploring it but the cost came down to do you take costs from other programs in order to have all day kindergarten but it is a good chunk that would really cause us to look at that and how can we make this happen for students.”

While it is only a budget proposal, Kovash says it nice to be talking about increases in funding instead of cuts.
