Richland County, ND (WDAY TV) - With recent school shootings, area schools want to make sure they're ready for any type of emergency.
Richland County has a big task. The county covers five different schools: Richland 44 school district, Wyndmere, Hankinson, Fairmount and Wahpeton schools. It's been a few years since the county implemented certain security measures, and they say while they could use some enhancements, they're ready.
Josh Beto – Richland County Investigator: "I think there is a sense of urgency to update or review the policies and procedures that are in place and we are doing that as well. We have had some schools call us and ask us to come back for a refresher."
The county also has a red button. It allows fast response times by calling any and all officers to duty whether or not they are on the clock.
