Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- While most of us cringe at those low numbers, there are some who thrive in extremely cold weather.

After a mild start to the winter, a few people are adjusting to the bitterly cold. Afterall, it's common January temperatures.

We all know this feeling, the bite of old man winter has most of us speed walking from our cars to indoors - trying to get out of the bitter cold…

But not everyone, Alexander Wagner and his son Ahren chose bicycles for their transportation to church.

Alexander Wagner/biking home from church: "It just makes me feel much better than just driving in a car. I like to go out and exercise a little bit. You go out sledding or do stuff like that, so why not biking? It works just as well."

The cold weather kept many inside, but for some it is just like any other day. As long as the wind isn't blowing and the sun is out - it's a nice day to be outside.

David Mertz/Perham, MN: "I have the North Dakota attitude. As long as you live here, I say, "bring it on!" I say, "get colder!" If we're going to live here, it might as well get cold so you can do all the North Dakota things like ice fishing and snowmobiling."

While some may thrive in the extreme cold, on the middle of a Sunday afternoon, only a few were brave enough to go out in the below-zero temperatures and hit the sledding hill.

With the right attitude, and the right clothing, even the coldest winter day can't keep these people inside.

Wagner: "It's brisk out, but if you dress right... and if you really cycle, you can always move this up if you get to cold. But it's not too bad if you put enough layers on."

Like John said, the coldest is yet to come, so bundle up tonight.
