Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Grand Forks man faces charges for assaulting another man - right in front of a Sanford hospital security guard.
33-year-old John Hedine is charged with aggravated assault after he knocked a man to the floor and started kicking him in the head. It happened near the emergency entrance of Sanford's downtown campus at 2:30 this morning.
Security guards apprehended Hedine until Fargo police arrived.
Sgt. Kevin Pallas with the Fargo Police Dept. says, "Having somebody to be able to intervene - especially a security officer - when something significant, such as this, when an assault is occuring, is really important. So, we're fortunate when that takes place."
The victim was treated at Sanford, since he was already there. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the assault.
