Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Flights at Hector Airport are staying mostly on schedule, despite high winds.

Airport officials say the wind doesn't affect takeoff, since it is going in the same direction as the runways.

However, high wind and fresh snow can hinder visibility.

Shawn Dobberstein, Airport Authority Exec. Dir. says, "Obviously visibility is always a concern. Aircraft need a half mile to land and a quarter mile to take off. So, that's really our biggest concern with the new snow we have."

Airport runways are designed run parallel with an areas predominant wind direction.
