Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- It was a slim margin between drivable conditions and a white out in and around the metro today.
In town was pretty good, but a different story once you reach the outskirts or beyond.
In town, it was just a bit of blowing snow, but venturing out of city limits meant a white-out.
Taylor Dahl/Moorhead Resident: "You always say it's the worst you've seen, but this year, definitely the worst I've seen."
Drivers filling up at this gas station near I-94 battled the wind… some just relieved to be off the road.
Dahl: "You can't see that far ahead of you, so if someone were to be stopped, that's an accident."
Families came from all over the region for the Pee-Wee Ice Jam hockey tournament. They say driving to Fargo was smooth sailing, but as snow started falling, some were anxious about the drive home.
David Wolfe/Eagan, MN: "I'm a little concerned about driving home. You've got a little fresh coat of snow that will be caking in the wind a little bit."
Blowing snow and wind is never fun to face, especially if you're heading out on the roads. But living in one of the most extreme-weather states, it's something people learn to deal with.
Wolfe: "You certainly can't make anything last-minute. You have to plan ahead and accordingly, and that means maybe getting here a day early."
