Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The flood diversion project is stirring up controversy.
After a heated legislative hearing yesterday, Fargo's Mayor, Dennis Walaker is not happy, claiming the people are out to end state funding for the project.
Walaker and Mayor Jim Nyhof say they believe the MnDak Upstream Coalition is against the Flood Diversion Project. But a MnDak Chairman says that's not true.
Scott Hendrickson, MnDak Chairman: "We've been working on it, again, for over two years. And we are not opposed to flood control in Fargo, it's just the opposite. In fact, I would say our group has promoted the Red River basin plan of retention more than any other group than I know of."
Today, we did reach out to both Mayor Walaker and Mayor Nyhof but neither have gotten back to us.
