Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Moorhead Mayor Mark Voxland slipped in a shocker at his state of the city address.

Voxland says, "this will be my last year, I will not run for another term as mayor this fall."

Mayor Voxland says he decided in August of 2009 that he'd run for one more term. Following the flood, he wanted to see certain flood projects through,

and a major emphasis in his address tonight is that Moorhead will soon be protected against what the U.S. Army corps considers a 100 year flood.

Voxland's time serving on council spans nearly one-fifth of Moorhead's existence. He was a council member for 14 years and now mayor for 12.
