Officials wonder what to do with the school in Newtown

Newtown, CT (WDAY TV) -- Newtown Connecticut officials are going over a growing, emotional issue in that town what to do with the school where a gunman killed 20 first-graders and 6 educators last month.
The first of 2 public hearings on the future of Sandy Hook Elementary happened this afternoon. A lot of residents weighed in with ideas. Some want it knocked down and put a memorial in its place. Others favor renovating the school and removing areas where the slaying occurred.
Other places that have dealt with school shootings, like Columbine and Virginia Tech - reopened after renovations.
