Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With the holidays over, now is the time when reality may be sinking in - or should we say they bills may be rolling in. If it was your resolution to get better with money, or if it should've been, there's an app for that.
If you were really good at Christmas shopping this year, you may dread the trip to the mailbox these days. Your great gifts may have turned into countless credit card bills and bank statements you'd rather not look at. But in just minutes you can get your entire financial life in order - every dime - with the mint.com app.
It manages everything - your checking, savings, car or student loans, mortgages, investment and retirement accounts - and puts them all in one place so you can figure out where your money is coming from and where it's going.
Once you add all of your account numbers, Mint will automatically pull in and categorize all of your transactions. You can tweak your budget based on the actual amount you spend from month to month so if Christmas spending was higher, eating out may have to be smaller.
Mint can help you avoid late fees by sending bill reminders. It sends alerts on suspicious activity or to tell you you're overspending and gives you advice on how to save and reach your financial goals. Seeing what pieces of your pie might be a little too big can help you find easy ways to save.
Just a note - you have to set everything up on Mint dot com and edit information there, but the app will sync all of your information across your devices and gives you the information in the palm of your hand - so you know if you have enough money in your account to tackle that unbeatable after-Christmas sale.
The Mint dot com site and app both require a passcode, and have bank-level security to protect your personal information. It's available for free on both the Apple and Google Play markets.
