Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - City crews gave a new flood fighting tool a test Thursday. Rivershore Drive in Moorhead was closed for most of the day, while they tested a new removable flood wall.

The gate is made out of light weight steel beams that are screwed together. It is used in emergency flood situations. Moorhead will store the beams, until they're needed, and it only takes a few hours to put up.

Tom Trowbridge – Moorhead City Engineer: "Basically, we will keep the road open except for when there is a flood situation and then we will close the road when necessary and install these panels to prevent the water from coming into the city."

The same type of walls were used in the 2011 flood. Moorhead now has a total of three removable flood walls.
