Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Senator Klobuchar addressed the growing problem of high-priced metals theft. She says at least $900 million are lost each year to it.
Klobuchar recently proposed the Metal Theft Prevention Act of 2012, which would make it a federal crime to steal metal from critical infrastructure, and would include a do-not-buy provision for stolen metal.
Senator Amy Klobuchar – (D) Minnesota: "Last Memorial Day, thieves in Isanti County stole more than 200 bronze star markers on Veterans' graves. So, anyone who says, 'why are you here talking about this right now?' I think you have the answer when you look at what's been going on all across the country."
