Chicago, IL (WDAY TV) -- A Chicago deputy fire chief accused of breaking into a woman's home and trying to kill her is on home confinement after posting bond.
Prosecutors say Gary Swiercz was wearing a ski mask when he allegedly broke into his neighbor's apartment. He put a knife to her throat and tried to sexually assault her before she got away.
Police arrested Swiercz after the alleged attack Saturday morning. He had a knife, rope, zip ties and duct tape with him.
The woman was treated and released from a hospital.
